A Festival Favourite Returns - Now Streaming Worldwide
An audience standout from the 2023 festival has made its way back via Doc Edge’s Virtual Cinema.
Frances Hodgkins: Anything But a Still Life, directed by Blandine Massiet Du Biest, is now available to watch globally. The film traces the life of pioneering New Zealand modernist Frances Hodgkins, following her journey across Europe and the legacy she left behind.
Recognised with the Best NZ Emerging Filmmaker award, the documentary offers a portrait of an artist who pushed boundaries and built an international career long before it was common for New Zealand creatives to do so.
Doc Edge Industry 2026 - Early Access Open
Looking ahead, Doc Edge Industry 2026 is set to return from 29 June to 1 July 2026 at Grand Millennium Auckland.
This three-day event remains New Zealand’s key documentary industry gathering, bringing together:

Doc Edge on the Global Stage - Oscar Recognition
The impact of Doc Edge continues to extend beyond Aotearoa.
At the latest Academy Awards, the Best Documentary Feature award went to Mr Nobody Against Putin!
Directed by Pavel Talankin and David Borenstein, the film previously screened as a New Zealand Premiere at Doc Edge Festival 2025, highlighting the festival’s role in bringing internationally significant work to local audiences.
