BIG SCREEN SYMPOSIUM SCHOLARSHIP & DOC EDGE GRANT RECIPIENTS

Congratulations to Alex McCrossin & Ben Wallbank, the recipients of our Big Screen Symposium Scholarship (Alex) and DocEdge Industry Travel Grant (Ben). Both screen conferences were held in Auckland in early July.

Ben praised DocEdge  for its diverse programme and delegation and also and reiterated the importance of our region maintaining connections with national festivals like DocEdge and Big Screen Symposium. FOS is proud to provide these opportunities to local filmmakers to attend events outside the region, helping to grow our local workforce and talent pool.

2025 DUNEDIN SCRIPT ACCELERATOR GRANT

Congratulations to Rebecca (Bex) Rowe – recipient of the 2025 Dunedin Script Accelerator Grant!

Bex brings over 23 years of experience in the screen industry, having worked across productions of every scale both locally and internationally. Her project, THE GREAT ONES, is set in 1992 Dunedin, a misfit bunch of hedonistic 'alternative' students, musos and hangers-on somehow cobble together a rugby team in order to prove their worth. Is the battle ultimately against the oppressive mainstream rugby monoculture or their own demons

This grant, endorsed by the NZ Writers Guild, supports bold new long-format screen projects clearly set in Dunedin. We can’t wait to see this one take shape!
