
Film Otago Southland Trust Seeking New Trustees
FILM OTAGO SOUTHLAND TRUST SEEKING NEW TRUSTEES
Film Otago Southland is a not-for-profit Trust that works in collaboration with the Queenstown Lakes and Dunedin council film offices to support, develop and promote screen production in the wider region. The Trust’s job is to: stimulate regional economic growth by attracting, facilitating and marketing screen productions; develop the sector for regional business; maximise opportunities for regional film professionals; and assist with policy development. It is funded by: Queenstown-Lakes District Council, Dunedin City Council, Southern Institute of Technology, Waitaki District Council and Central Otago District Council.
The Trust is specifically seeking to recruit additional screen industry representatives to the Board, ideal candidates will be those who:
- Are committed to the mission and governing process of Film Otago Southland
- Will promote film and screen industry benefits within the Otago and Southland region
- Will support the Board governing structure and who will meet Board expectations
- Will engage in deliberative and collegial decision-making
- Are committed to their stewardship responsibilities
- Have a knowledge of the film industry, organisational development, strategic thinking, organisational growth, and/or legal and financial matters.
These are volunteer positions requiring attendance at four formal quarterly Trust Board meetings per year (with the option of video conferencing). Trustees should also be available for ad-hoc consultation and appointments in between meetings (approximately three hours per month) and may be invited to represent Film Otago Southland at industry events as applicable.
Previous governance experience is useful, but not required. Candidates without prior governance experience should express a desire to develop their governance skills.
