Regional Wrap: Wellington

The Juicy Sweet project underway at Stone Street Studios has kept many of our members very busy over the last few months. When away from the stages, locations for both Main and Second Units have largely been in the central North Island and most departments have a great mix of up-and-coming kaimahi learning from more seasoned practitioners.

Regardless of where they sit on that spectrum, it is really encouraging to see crew embracing the tuakana/teina kaupapa, strengthening bonds and solidarity within our below-the-line whānau. Shooting is due to wrap around Labour Weekend.

Meanwhile, some lucky ones have flown North for the spring as shooting gets underway this week on Tusi Tamasese’s next period feature “Sweet Lips” in beautiful Samoa.

Looking ahead, we are all looking forward to another supernatural season with O’Leary, Minogue and Maaka on “Wellington Paranormal”.

Excitement is high for the release of Wellington-based projects Black Sheeps and The Dog Show, with cast-and-crew screenings allowing us to appreciate the finished, polished products of our efforts.
