Z Business Fuel Update: Government Moves to Strengthen National Diesel Supply

The Government has announced that it has signed a letter of intent with Z Energy to procure 90 million litres of diesel as part of a wider effort to strengthen New Zealand’s fuel supply resilience.

The diesel is expected to be delivered to Marsden Point in one or two cargo shipments and held as security stock at the direction of the Crown. Delivery is currently proposed for around June to July 2026.

Z Energy has advised that it will continue working with the Government to ensure this fuel can be made available for supply, including into the areas where it is most needed, in support of the national interest.
