A Hole in My Bucket is screening as part of this year’s Doc Edge Festival, with upcoming sessions in Auckland and Wellington.

Directed by Royd Tolkien and narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, the film follows Royd as he takes on a bucket list of 50 challenges left by his late brother Mike, who passed away from Motor Neurone Disease.

What follows is a deeply human journey across Aotearoa, moving through grief, connection, humour and discomfort as Royd faces each challenge. Raw, funny and full of heart, the film is a reminder that even in the hardest moments, there can still be room for meaning, laughter and growth.

Featuring Peter Jackson, Billy Boyd, John Rhys-Davies and Wētā Workshop, the film is a raucous and tender journey through grief, love, mischief and the kind of adventure that can only come from a very personal promise.
