More Members Mean More Support for Screen Workers
If We Want a Better Industry, We All Have to Pitch In
The Screen Guild exists to make the industry better for the people who work in it.
To help crew be informed, valued, professionally supported and better equipped to navigate the realities of production.
And there is still a lot more we want to do.
The reality is simple:
The Guild can only do what we have the capacity to deliver.
We are a not-for-profit membership organisation. There is no shareholder, no commercial owner and no large organisation funding everything we would like to achieve.
We need more capacity for dispute advocacy, contract support, SIWA guidance, education, professional development, research and practical tools.
Most importantly, we need greater capacity to respond when individual screen workers need help.
The work is already happening. The demand is already there.
If you want a great industry, be part of creating it.
Thousands of screen workers already follow the Guild.
Following helps spread information.
Sharing helps important conversations travel.
Engagement helps us understand what matters to crew.
But a strong industry organisation needs people willing to stand behind it.
Following supports the message…
Membership supports the work
More members means more capacity to improve, build, advocate and support the people we exist to serve.
The Guild isn't "them". It's us.
It is fair to ask:
"Why isn't the Guild doing more about this?"
We should always challenge ourselves to do better.
But there is another question worth asking:
What could the Guild do if more of our industry stood behind it?
The strength of a membership organisation comes from its members.
More members means:
- Greater capacity
- A stronger mandate
- A louder collective voice
- More departments represented
- More industry experience at the table
- More resources to act when problems arise
Those are not small ambitions. And they shouldn't be.
We want an ambitious Guild
The Screen Guild is already doing the work.
Crew already come to us for information, contract guidance, dispute support, advocacy and help navigating an increasingly complex industry.
The challenge isn't knowing what needs to be done.
The challenge is capacity.
- We want to provide stronger contract and dispute support
- Build better systems around SIWA
- Develop more practical tools and resources
- Strengthen advocacy
- Lift professional standards
- And be able to step up when crew need support
The Guild is already here. More membership gives us the capacity to do more.
Your membership does more than unlock content
Over the past year, we have shared more educational material with the wider screen community, including information on:
- Penalty rates
- Contracts
- Working conditions
- Meal breaks
- Safety
- Legislation
- Professional practice
- Industry issues
Because knowledge matters.
Knowing your craft is one part of being a great screen worker.
Understanding the industry around your craft matters too.
Knowledge is part of your kit
But membership isn't simply paying for articles.
Your membership helps fund the work behind them:
- The next guide
- The next contract resource
- The next training initiative
- The next piece of research
- The next advocacy programme
- The next system we build around SIWA
And greater capacity to support crew when they need someone in their corner.
Your monthly contribution helps build the organisation we keep asking for
- Standard Screen Guild membership: $25 per month
- Gold Card Membership: $6.50 per month
- Student Membership: $13.00 per month
A relatively small contribution from individual screen workers can create considerably more value for the workforce collectively.
And we want membership to deliver direct value to you too.
Members receive access to Guild resources, education, professional initiatives and benefits - including ProdPerks, the Screen Guild's industry discount programme.
A few useful ProdPerks purchases can potentially offset a significant portion - or even all - of your membership cost.
But there is an even bigger reason to join...
You're investing in the industry you earn your living from.
Imagine what we could build together
A Guild with stronger contract and dispute support.
Better systems for navigating SIWA.
More resources when problems arise.
Professional education across every department.
Better industry data to support advocacy.
New tools, programmes and professional standards.
A Guild with the capacity to see a problem affecting screen workers and say:
"Right. Let's do something about it."
That is what greater membership makes possible.
This is your industry
Art. AD's. Camera. Casting. Continuity. Costume. DIT/VID. Grips. Lighting. Locations. Makeup. Production. Safety. SPFX, Sound. Sustainability. Transport. Unit. - every role in here makes production possible.
This is YOUR industry.
And crew deserve a strong, independent organisation focused on crew.
So if you value the work we're doing, want stronger representation, better contract support, better SIWA systems, more education and more advocacy:

The Screen Guild doesn't exist for itself.
