Several productions are underway across Aotearoa this spring, including both new titles and returning series. Here’s a brief overview of what’s currently filming around the country.

Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s rolling (and about to roll) across Aotearoa this spring - from major international features to local dramas and series.

Feature Films & International Projects

  • Evil Dead: Wrath is filming in Auckland, following closely on from Evil Dead: Burn.
  • The Legend of Zelda begins a 19-week shoot at Kumeu Film Studios from November.
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is heading into pre-production in Wellington.
  • Terbang: a Malaysian feature, wraps its final seven shooting days in the South Island this month after a 45-day schedule in Malaysia.

Domestic Dramas & Series

  • A Remarkable Place to Die – Season 2 - begins shooting late October in the South Island.
  • God Bless You, Mr Kopu - is set to film in Auckland from November through mid-December.
  • NZ Spy - will span Auckland and Queenstown from mid-November to mid-December.
  • This is Home - a pilot for Whakaata Māori, is filming in Auckland November–December.
  • Let’s Marry - a one-episode Netflix dating show, will shoot in Tasman this November.
  • A Dog’s Show - a nostalgic local feature, is filming in Wellington across November–December.
  • Good Bones - is locked in for Auckland mid-January to February 2026.
  • The Sanctuary - a scripted comedy, will shoot in Auckland early 2026.
  • Secrets at Red Rocks – Season 2 - - domestic drama, set for Wellington early 2026.
  • Deadpoint - domestic drama, set for Wellington early 2026.
