Travel Time: In-Zone Exceptions and Out-of-Town Travel

Travel within the 20km Travel Zone is generally considered normal commuting. However, there are specific situations where travel may still be billable.

Travel within the Travel Zone may be charged when additional time or effort is required beyond normal commuting.

This may apply when:

• The road is permanently unsealed for more than 2km (excluding temporary roadworks)
• Access to the location requires leaving the Travel Zone during your journey
• You are carrying out a production-requested pickup or drop-off, using your own vehicle for production purposes

Examples

• Personal vehicles used for running
• Travel via rugged, metal, or unsealed roads

Out-of-Town Travel

When a crew member is required to stay away from home for work, travel is treated differently.

If you are working out of town:

• Travel is door-to-door
• Turnaround is also door-to-door

Travel becomes part of the working day, rather than personal commuting time.

Why It Matters

Understanding these exceptions helps distinguish between normal commuting and production-required travel. Even within the Travel Zone, certain conditions can change how travel time is treated.
